Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction (ACL)

ACL reconstruction is surgery to replace a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Dr Tollig uses a specialised technique where the native ACL is retained and strengthened with grafts. Dr Tollig uses multiple approaches during ACL surgery to accommodate various patients with different needs.

Medial Patellar Femoral Ligament reconstruction (MPFL)

The medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) attaches the kneecap (patella) on the inner part of the knee. Dr Tollig helps to stabilise the patella and prevent it from dislocating. An MPFL reconstruction is often recommended for patients who experience repeated patella dislocations.

Arthroscopy/Meniscus repair (Cartilage repair)

Dr Tollig uses a specialised arthroscopic technique for meniscus repairs in order to prevent the development of arthritis in the future.

Osteochondral Transplantation Surgery - OATS (Cartilage transplant)

Dr Tollig will take healthy cartilage (called a graft) from one part of a joint to repair another part of the joint. The graft is taken from a non-weight-bearing part of the joint, matched up to the damaged area and then put into place. The new graft will then leave a smooth exterior on the joint.
